18th March 2009 - Day 9

The days seem to be progressing fast now, and as each day comes I am starting to feel so much more comfortable and confident that everything is going just great.

I slept very well last night, and decided to not wear such tight underwear. Woke up this morning with the start of an erection, which was slightly uncomfortable as it pushed against my pants.
The good news for today though is that the dressing that had been in my pants over night only had a couple of tiny spots of lymph on this morning, so no concern like I had yesterday morning.

Another salt bath started off the day, and I could now see something happening with the stitches, a couple of them on the top side of my penis, do look like they are starting to break down. I am going to keep a close eye on the stitches now as I think in the next couple of days they will be ready to come out. And if need be I will give them a little encouragement.

I was thinking today, that I had not really been able to see the incision line clearly, due to the swelling of the inner foreskin. I was eager to see what was going on and how it was healing.
In the full 9 days since the operation I have not allowed myself to get a full erection. Night time erections have always been restricted due to the tight underwear and the fact that I have been keeping my penis facing downwards.

So feeling brave this morning, I allowed myself to get a full erection. Now to be honest this has been a worry for me for the past week, as I was expecting pain, discomfort, stitches bursting and maybe the wound opening.
In reality though it was all fine, no pain at all and no pulling on any stitches. For the first time I was now able to see the incision line and I was amazed at exactly how much of it had healed. The 2 pieces of skin looked literally welded together. It was now quite obvious that the stitches were not actually doing a great deal anymore, so I am more comfortable about them coming out soon.

On the top side of my penis there is slight bit of gaping of the incision line, but this is no more than 3mm and I am certain that it will be closing up soon.
Compared to how much I was told the wound could gape at this point, I am so pleased that it is not and that my gaping is very minimal.

The puffiness of the inner foreskin is still present, and when this skin was stretched out when erect, it could be easily seen that it was flaking a little. I believe that the swelling has gone down a little in the past couple of days, which hopefully can be seen in the photos. I hope that this swelling continues to subside, as I am not used to my penis looking thicker than usual. This thickness then makes it look shorter, which of course I don’t want! (Even though it is just an optical illusion or something)

The frenulum wound is still healing slower than the rest, and is not as ‘dry’ as the healing on the incision line. But this wound is actually quite small in comparison to the frenulum wound on some men. So no concern there.

So that’s another day down, I’m looking forward to bringing you more information over the coming days. I just wanted again to thank everyone for the response to this web site that I have had so far. The messages of support that I have been getting are amazing and really do help!
On the days where I’m thinking that it is not looking very good, it is a huge boost when supporters are saying how well it looks and that my healing is doing well.
